Question: Can one use Fritz, Komodo or Houdini to play out a pre-set position? If I try to do so, I always have to manually force the chess engine to play the counter-move. How do I manage to have the engine play the counter-moves on its own?
Answer: From any position you can play against the program. This can both be directly from a position which you yourself have input, but it also works with positions which have been stored and loaded from a database.
The screenshot shows a position which has been loaded from a database. But you could also set up any position and play on from it.
A right click on the chess clock allows you to set the desired playing level.
Whenever you have determined a level of play the play mode is activated and the program plays its counter-moves independently – unlike in analysis mode.
